Purpose of the Forums
These forums will provide an opportunity for citizens to learn about the Lake Ontario ecosystem and the work that is being done through the Lakewide Action and Management Plan to protect and restore the health of Lake Ontario. State and federal agency staff, academic researchers, and county and local watershed organizations will make a number of presentations, including updates on the status of lake water quality, the quality of Lake Ontario beaches, the food web of the lake, native fish species restoration efforts, toxic contaminants in fish, and the monitoring and management of the lake's coastal wetlands. Time will be provided at the end of the scheduled program for the audience to interact with the presenters.
The Lake Ontario Ecosystem Forums will not address Lake Ontario water level regulation. Separate events are being conducted by the International Joint Commission (IJC) to discuss the water level regulation plan.
